Bayern Munich have made a first bid for PSV star Ismael Saibari
Saibari, 25, was named Eredivisie Player of the Year during the recent Eredivisie Awards. The Belgian-Moroccan midfielder scored 15 goals and registered 8 assists in 27 matches for PSV, who clinched the title by a record 19 points.
Per multiple sources, including Fabrizio Romano and Sky Sports' Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich have tabled an initial bid for Saibari after manager Vincent Kompany gave his approval of the midfielder's profile.
Plettenberg further reports that Saibari and his representatives held talks with Kompany and Bayern director Max Eberl on Monday, noting that no agreement has been reached with PSV as yet.
Record transfer?
If PSV director Earnest Stewart has his way, PSV will smash their transfer record with Saibari's move.
"One hears through the grapevine the fees other clubs demand for certain players. He is among the finest players in the Dutch league. So it is no surprise we are also holding out for a substantial fee. That appears logical to me," Stewart told ESPN during the club's title celebrations in April.
PSV's current record fee stands at the €50 million paid for Hirving Lozano after he left for Napoli in 2019.
Ismael Saibari joined PSV from the KRC Genk youth academy in 2020 and made his first team debut in November 2020, coming on as a substitute for Mario Gotze against ADO Den Haag. Across 142 appearances in all competitions, he has scored 42 goals and registered 28 assists.
