Liverpool legend Dalglish announces he is receiving cancer treatment
Dalglish, who secured more than 30 trophies for Liverpool both as a player and a manager, shared the news of his diagnosis via social media.
"As my accidental social media post has implied, I am now undergoing treatment for cancer. Unlike my use of a mobile phone, the treatment is progressing well," the 75-year-old wrote on Instagram.
"Ideally, this would have stayed private because that is how it ought to be, but my poor technological abilities have compelled me to act.
"Obviously, I did not intend to make this matter public, so I would be grateful if the privacy of my family and myself is respected."
Dalglish netted 172 goals for Liverpool over 13 seasons as a player, claiming six league titles and three European Cups during the Merseyside club's golden era.
He later managed the side, leading the Anfield team to three league titles and two FA Cups in the 1980s.
Kevin Keegan, another celebrated former Liverpool forward, revealed on Monday that he has stage four cancer.
