Barcelona manager Hansi Flick signs two year contract extension

"In just two seasons at FC Barcelona Flick has already made his mark on club history via titles records and a distinct vision ahead" stated the Catalans.

Flick had confirmed verbally last week he would stay in command at the club. His prior agreement lasted until 2027 yet after securing the league title at an early stage he noted he was in the right place and aimed to capture the Champions League with the Blaugrana.

Media accounts show Barca president Joan Laporta suggested retaining Flick through his term ending in 2031. The German however favours shorter terms.

Flick arrived at Barca in 2024. With two league titles he also marked a cup success last year. During the ongoing Champions League run Barcelona fell in the quarter finals to Atletico Madrid.

"The German coach has formed a competitive side that upholds club identity dominates at home and can again feature among Europes best" the statement went on "The contract extension brings continuity to the coach and the project."
