Medeama win Ghana Premier League title for second time in four years

Medeama Sporting Club have claimed the Ghana Premier League crown yet again. Their impressive 5 to 2 win against Heart of Lions on Sunday secured the championship for the Tarkwa based team with one match remaining.

This result created an unbeatable lead of five points ahead of Bibiani Gold Stars before the last day of the 2025/26 campaign.

Two goals each from Kelvin Obeng and Derrick Fordjour along with another from Prince Owusu helped the Mauve and Yellows triumph at the TNA Park in Tarkwa.

Their success marks the second Ghana Premier League title for Medeama in four years and establishes them as a leading team in Ghanaian football today.

The win highlights a growing strength from the Western Region as their teams have taken the previous four league titles.

Medeama took the title in 2022/23 for the first time. Next came Samartex from Samreboi with their first Premier League win in 2023/24. Then Gold Stars from Bibiani won in 2024/25 completing three straight titles for Western Region clubs. Medeama followed suit in 2025/26.

Four Ghana Premier League titles in a row. Three separate clubs. All hailing from the Western Region. This achievement has prompted doubts about the ability of historic giants like Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko who have faced difficulties lately.

Medeama will now return to African competition and take part in the early stages of the CAF Champions League for the upcoming season.
