Kasper Dolberg deemed unfit reportedly poised to exit Ajax after one year reunion

The 28 year old Kasper Dolberg returned to Ajax in September 2025 having previously departed the Amsterdam outfit in 2019 to join OGC Nice. The club rushed through a €10 million agreement with Anderlecht following the sale of forward Brian Brobbey to Sunderland on transfer deadline day, finally confirming Dolbergs comeback one hour and 15 minutes before the midnight cutoff.

In part because of injury problems Dolbergs renewed time at the club in Amsterdam has not matched the anticipated levels, as the Danish player has managed only 3 goals along with 3 assists across 19 Eredivisie appearances. His most recent league goal came in January, and his latest starting role was on February 21 against NEC in a 1 1 stalemate.

During Ajaxs latest Eredivisie fixture versus strugglers Heracles Almelo the temporary coach Óscar García kept Dolberg sidelined opting to introduce young talent Don Angelo Konadu in place of initial starter Wout Weghorst.

Algemeen Dagblad reports that Dolbergs latest chapter in the Dutch city will span merely one year with director of football Jordi Cruyff inclined to offload the Danish player who has 56 caps due to his positioning away from the ball and insufficient pressing effort.

"Dolberg does not fit in our style of play" states Algemeen Dagblad reporter Johan Inan citing Cruyff who further highlights the gap in ground covered with Dolberg at 10km compared to Weghorsts 12km.

The ex Barcelona executive Cruyff intends a major squad refresh at Ajax targeting acquisitions of 10 to 15 new players of which as many as six could slot into the first team lineup.

Ajax sit in fifth position in the Eredivisie four points adrift of second placed Feyenoord in the race for a UEFA Champions League spot.

Dolberg remains contracted to Ajax through to July 2029.
