Bayern Munich secure exhilarating draw versus Heidenheim following Olises impactful substitute role

Vincent Kompany rotated seven players from the lineup that took on Paris Saint Germain on Tuesday, focusing on the upcoming second leg of their major UEFA Champions League semi final. Still, the Bundesliga title holders controlled much of the ball against the outfit battling to remain in the top flight.

That said, they posed little danger and relied on efforts from distance, as Leon Goretzkas shot was easily held by Diant Ramaj prior to Hiroki Ito firing astray.

Heidenheim sought to trouble the opposition with deliveries into Bayerns penalty area and caught the home team off guard in the 22nd minute. A corner was weakly dealt with, enabling Marnon Busch to float a ball that Budu Zivzivadze deftly directed beyond Jonas Urbig.

The away side displayed resilience, with Eren Dinkci steering a bid just off target, soon after dashing onto an expertly placed Busch pass that bent past Jonathan Tah. This let him nudge the ball beyond Urbig and across the line. Bayern reduced the gap right before halftime, however, when Goretzka lofted a magnificent free kick into the upper corner.

More determination was evident before the interval resumed, as Harry Kane, Luis Diaz, Michael Olise, and Joshua Kimmich entered the fray.

Kane located Nicolas Jackson with an outstanding pass for a strike thwarted by superb stopping from the keeper, after which Busch headed Kim Min jaes header away from the goalmouth.

Nonetheless, in the 58th minute, their backline fell to yet another set piece when Goretzka volleyed in Olises cross.

Olise subsequently whipped a curler narrowly wide, while Kimmich struck the upright with greater precision. Urbig then excelled in blocking Dinkci from close quarters.

Bayern pressed on relentlessly, though Diazs effort whistled by the upright. Disbelief gripped them with fifteen minutes remaining as Zivzivadze surged into the area, evaded Olise, and placed a classy shot into the top corner, a finish worthy of the Frenchmans flair.

Still, Heidenheim faced heartbreak in the 100th minute when Olises effort rebounded from the post and off Ramajs back into the net, restoring parity.

Heidenheim at least stretched their form to just one reverse in six outings, yet the share keeps them three points adrift of St Pauli, who face action on Sunday and hold the relegation playoff position. For Bayern, the result preserves their run of a single setback across 21 fixtures in every tournament.
