AGF and FC Midtjylland draw a blank in tight title showdown

AGF fought hard over the entire 90 minutes hoping to claim the points needed to regain the league lead, a position they surrendered after letting slip a seven point advantage in recent fixtures.

Yet FC Midtjylland mounted a sturdy defence and pulled out every trick to hold onto their perch at the top of the Danish Superliga. The away team generated the prime openings in the opening 45 minutes, although South Korean forward Cho Gue-sung endured a forgettable outing.

AGF carved out opportunities of their own, but Jakob Andersen and fellow players squandered efforts on target. Just ten minutes shy of half time, Jesper Hansen pulled off a fine stop as Cho Gue-sung threatened once more from the boxs fringe.

The action in the second period echoed the first, with Cho Gue-sung foiled by AGF keeper Jesper Hansen despite a clever pass from Aral Simsir.

AGF manager Jakob Poulsen brought on forward Patrick Mortensen in place of Janni Serra right after the restart, but even he failed to find a way through amid the 11335 crowd, a new high for the makeshift arena in Vejlby.

As the sphere lingered precariously on the line in front of AGF attackers Patrick Mortensen and Tobias Bech, FC Midtjylland central player Pedro Bravo sprinted to clear it away to safety.
