Djurgarden thrash Goteborg 6-0 while Bromma Boys secure victory over Halmstad in Allsvenskan

Djurgarden 6-0 Goteborg

Djurgarden endured a disappointing spell recently, suffering two tight losses and then drawing with rivals Hammarby in the local derby even though they controlled much of the play. They channelled that disappointment into a dominant performance against IFK Goteborg, a team yet to claim a win this season.

Just 15 minutes into the match, Jeppe Okkels skilfully swivelled in the penalty area to create space and fired in the opening goal, followed by another quarter hour passing before Patric Aslund made it two. Still riding high from his strike the previous week, Kristian Lien maintained his momentum just three minutes on, directing a header into the far corner off a delivery from Piotr Johansson.

The fourth goal arrived shortly past the hour, with the Iron Stoves extending their lead, as Bo Hegland provided his second assist after an excellent surge forward and squared the ball for Aslund to smash home his brace at the upright.

Joel Asoro entered the fray in the closing stages and made his mark in the last 10 minutes by bypassing the final opponent and finishing for the fifth, before sealing the comprehensive win in the dying moments. Hegland swung in a delivery from the flank, allowing Asoro to head home and giving his colleague a third assist of the afternoon.

This result lifts Djurgarden to 10 points, trailing leaders Sirius by six, whereas Goteborg sit 15th out of 16 with only three points, increasing the scrutiny on coach Stefan Billborn.

Halmstad 1-3 Brommapojkarna

Despite Goteborgs struggles, they remain ahead of rock-bottom Halmstad, who have collected just two points from six outings following their loss to Brommapojkarna, marking the visitors second consecutive triumph on the road.

The breakthrough came just shy of the hour, courtesy of Sion Oppong for BP, who drifted inside from the left and unleashed a shot from distance that took a nick en route to goal.

Ten minutes or so afterwards, Mads Hansen clinched the result for the away side by delivering a pass for Kaare Barslund to extend the lead to 2-0, and Hansen then netted the third himself with eight minutes left.

Hansens contribution proved timely for BP, as he received a second yellow in stoppage time, shortly after Leo Cavalliuss own goal offered Halmstad a late response that failed to alter the Bromma Boys second success in their last three fixtures.
