Euro 92 legend appointed assistant coach for Denmark national side

The Danish Football Association has announced via their website that Kent Nielsen will take on the role of assistant coach for the men's national team.

Kent Nielsen, a member of the victorious 1992 European Championship squad, has agreed to a two year contract.

Head coach Brian Riemer expressed his satisfaction with the appointment:

"Kent Nielsen is an excellent addition who fits perfectly into the team I aimed to build, bringing different qualities. After Morten Wieghorst left, I wanted an assistant with extensive experience. Kent also adopts the same attacking philosophy as I do, which is why I selected him as my new assistant from a strong pool of candidates."

"Kent is also a legend of Danish football and understands what it means to wear the red shirt and represent the whole country. This is a very valuable addition to our set up," added Riemer.

The 64 year old Kent Nielsen has overseen more than 600 Superliga matches, managing clubs such as Horsens, AaB, Brondby, OB, and most recently Silkeborg.

Kent Nielsen will begin his new role during the summer break.

His first assignment will be Denmark's international match in September, when they face Norway away in the Nations League.
