Trossard targeting World Cup ambitions after Premier League triumph with Arsenal

“I am truly eager to begin,” he stated during a press conference on Friday, having arrived late to join his teammates after the Champions League final last week.

“The whole squad is beginning the World Cup campaign with great enthusiasm, which is encouraging. So far, I have only participated in one training session, so nothing has particularly caught my eye yet, but I can see that everyone is concentrated and prepared to start the tournament.”

When asked if he was in the finest shape of his career, Trossard replied: “That is always a tricky question. But I am definitely in top condition, and I hope to take that into the World Cup.”

He also noted that claiming the Premier League title is a boost for Belgium’s aspirations.

“It is excellent when players arrive here having won trophies, but that does not alter your standing. Not mine either, but I will attempt to bring that experience to the national team.

“We have had a very strong season with Arsenal. Naturally, it is frustrating how the Champions League concluded. Penalty shootouts are a game of chance, and it was tense watching from the sidelines. However, we still had a magnificent season and we are very proud of winning the English league.

“The title celebrations and the parade were wonderful. We were able to celebrate properly with the team.”

Regarding his club future, Trossard remained tight-lipped.

“For now, I am still an Arsenal player. We will see what occurs in the summer,” he said to journalists.

Belgium have a warm-up match against Tunisia in Brussels on Saturday before departing on Monday for the World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States, where they will start their Group G campaign in Seattle on June 15th against Egypt.
