Arsenal dominate PFA Player of the Year award shortlist alongside Haaland and Fernandes

Declan Rice, Gabriel and David Raya have been nominated for the prize after a remarkable campaign with the Gunners, which saw the team claim the championship with 85 points, seven ahead of runners-up Manchester City.

Also in contention are Manchester City duo Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki, together with Manchester United playmaker Bruno Fernandes, who set a record of 21 Premier League assists to guide United to a third-place finish.

Cherki is also up for the PFA Young Player of the Year award, alongside Manchester United and England midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, 16-year-old Arsenal talent Max Dowman, Liverpool’s Rio Ngumoha, and Bournemouth forward Junior Kroupi, who round out the shortlist.

Haaland, who netted 27 goals to secure the league’s golden boot, is not the frontrunner to claim the award despite his prolific scoring.

Former Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah took home the prize last year after leading his side to the title, but he fails to make the shortlist this time following a disappointing season.

The winners of the men’s PFA Player of the Year awards will be revealed at the annual ceremony, set to take place at Manchester Opera House on Tuesday 25th August.

The Arsenal trio are the favourites to secure the award, but Fernandes’ record-breaking campaign could produce a surprise result on the night, even though the Gunners lifted the trophy.
