Tottenham secure Andy Robertson on free transfer after Liverpool exit

The Scottish full-back becomes Spurs' first summer signing after the club successfully avoided relegation from the Premier League.

Spurs head coach Roberto De Zerbi said: "Andy is a player I have admired for many years. He will bring outstanding technical ability, experience, leadership, and a winning mentality to our squad.

"Over a long period, he has proven himself as a winner at the highest level, and I believe he can be a key figure for us, both on and off the pitch.

"I am eager to begin working with him and to see the positive influence he will have on everyone around him."

Tottenham had sought to sign Robertson during the January transfer window, but Liverpool prevented the move because they could not bring Kostas Tsimikas back from his loan spell at Roma.

Reports surfaced indicating that Juventus made a late approach for the 32-year-old, but he chose to adhere to his initial intention of moving to Tottenham.

Robertson had a highly productive nine-year stint on Merseyside, amassing a collection of silverware that includes two Premier League titles and the Champions League, from 378 appearances.

With 93 caps for Scotland, he is poised to captain the Tartan Army this month as they compete in their first World Cup since 1998.
