Crystal Palace and Rayo Vallecano fans clash before Conference League final
Two police officers suffered minor injuries, according to a statement released on Wednesday morning. Police checked the identities of more than 300 people and issued dispersal orders.
The statement said the incident took place on the evening before the match, which is scheduled for Wednesday at the Red Bull Arena, at around 8pm local time.
Around 300 high-risk fans of Rayo Vallecano were, police said, moving together through the city centre, where clashes erupted with Crystal Palace supporters.
Unrest and Thrown Objects
The statement added that fans threw bottles, beer glasses and furniture from pubs. Officers quickly separated the groups, and some police officers were also attacked during the incident.
Police reported that two officers were "slightly injured but remained fit for duty". Two individuals were arrested, and the police operation concluded at around 3:15am on Wednesday morning.
The fan festival, which attracted up to 2,000 visitors at its peak on the market square, was described as "entirely peaceful throughout".
