Gordon due for Barcelona medical prior to big-money Newcastle exit

Sky Sports television broadcast images of the 25-year-old player climbing aboard a private plane and reported that an announcement might arrive on Friday or over the weekend.

Gordon has enjoyed the finest season of his career, scoring 17 times for Newcastle in all competitions, including 10 goals from 12 matches in the Champions League, and he has been selected for England's World Cup squad.

According to media reports, Gordon still has four years remaining on his contract, having joined the club in January 2023 and signed a long-term extension in October 2024.

However, Newcastle failed to secure European football for next season, finishing 12th in the Premier League.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe acknowledged this month that Gordon may have played his last match for the club after Bayern Munich showed interest, before Barcelona then made their move.
