EXCLUSIVE: Pato dubs Ancelotti 'the best in the world' and names Brazil as contenders
Day by day, the buzz around Brazil's new chapter under Carlo Ancelotti intensifies. Among the Italian manager's most ardent fans is Alexandre Pato, who views the Seleção's prospects with strong optimism and is entirely convinced by the Brazilian FA's decision.
In an exclusive interview with Flashscore, just hours before Brazil faced Morocco, the former Brazilian striker praised Ancelotti, naming the Brazilian national team as one of the main favourites to win the next World Cup.
"It will be tremendous; the opening fixture is difficult, but I am confident Brazil will perform well," Pato told Flashscore's Fabio Russomando.
At Brazil's press conference on Friday, Ancelotti singled out Spain as the favourites to lift the trophy, perhaps trying to ease the pressure on Brazil by playing mind games.
"Brazil is not deceived by that because they are always among the favourites," Pato continued.
"It will be challenging because football has evolved significantly, but we still have some of the world's finest players. We have Vinicius Junior, Raphinha, and Casemiro; we have a host of outstanding players. We can make the final and win it, but it will not be easy."
'The best in the world'
Pato was full of praise for Ancelotti, who joined the record World Cup winners in May 2025 after a successful period at Real Madrid. When asked if he considers Ancelotti the top manager globally, Pato answered without hesitation: "You know, when you think about it... yes! He is the finest in the world, he has triumphed everywhere, and I believe the national team needed someone like him, and he warranted such a big national team. Let us hope for the best."
He also discussed Milan, a club he remains deeply connected to, expressing his disappointment at failing to secure Champions League football and his faith in the club's choices for the Rossoneri bench going forward.
"I follow Milan; it is always in my heart. I am sorry they could not qualify for the Champions League... We have another year now, and we can return," said Pato, who is unsure about who should replace Massimiliano Allegri at Milan.
"That is for the club to decide; Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the technical director, makes the choice... I believe Milan will know whom to pick. Allegri was very strong, but for the next appointment, I am uncertain. I always back Milan."
