Former Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim now favourite for AC Milan job

AC Milan have decided to part company with Max Allegri and several other members of the club's sporting structure after they failed to qualify for the Champions League.

Crystal Palace's Oliver Glasner had been the frontrunner to take over, with reports from Italy suggesting he had been offered a provisional two-year contract.

Now, according to The Athletic, former Manchester United manager Amorim, 41, is the top candidate to take charge at the San Siro.

Amorim has been out of work since being dismissed by Manchester United in January and held discussions with the club's hierarchy this week.

It is understood that AC Milan had originally intended to appoint Andoni Iraola, but he took over at Liverpool after the surprising dismissal of Arne Slot.
