Brondby bring in seasoned AGF striker Patrick Mortensen on a two-year deal

Nineteen years after first joining Brondby IF, Patrick Mortensen is back wearing the yellow and blue.

Mortensen, who joins Brondby on a free transfer from AGF's Danish championship-winning side, played his first Superliga minutes in a Brondby shirt. Now his journey has come full circle for one of the Danish Superliga's most prolific strikers.

Patrick Mortensen has agreed a two-year contract with the club and, from the upcoming season, will take on a role where his influence on the club's younger players will be particularly important.

"Patrick comes in as a perfect complement to the group of strikers we already have. On the pitch, with his physique, his experience, and his presence in the area, he possesses qualities we need. But it is particularly as a leader and role model that he must make a difference," says football director Julius Ohnesorge.

Those words are echoed by the man himself.

"The plan that Julius and the rest of the team have outlined really appeals to me. Returning to contribute a wealth of experience, hopefully play many minutes, and help nurture the younger players," says Patrick Mortensen.

It is primarily the past seven years as a key player and captain for AGF that have established Patrick Mortensen's name as one of the Superliga's biggest figures. With 115 goals, he is the sixth-highest goalscorer in Superliga history.
