Al Rayyan Secure QSL Cup Victory with Mitrovic Goal in Final and End Trophy Drought

In the dying moments of the opening period, Roger Guedes netted the opener for Al Rayyan, composedly guiding the ball beyond the goalkeeper after skilfully evading his marker.

The Serbian striker Mitrovic then made it two goals, rising to nod in a free kick merely eight minutes into the second half.

From that point, Muaither appeared unable to mount any real challenge, as Al Rayyan dominated proceedings right up to the end to claim their initial silverware in six years.

Post match, Mitrovic shared: “The feeling is amazing. We worked very hard for this. It's been a long season, in the end we reach the final.

"We are so happy, because we put a lot of work and hopefully this is a big push for us in the future. This will give us confidence to win more trophies.

"But I'm very happy for the final. After a long time, we bring a trophy to the club.”

This represents the debut trophy for Mitrovic since his switch to Qatar from Saudi outfit Al Hilal, timed one month after he highlighted it as his top priority during an exclusive chat with Flashscore.

“The goal is to win at least one trophy,” he stated back in March.

“In the last few years, the team has been really unlucky, came close to winning a few trophies but never took them home. So I hope the goals I score will be important in bringing a trophy back to the club."
