Brondby sack head coach Steve Cooper after disappointing season in Danish Superliga

Brondby IF have decided to part ways with head coach Steve Cooper effective immediately. Alongside Cooper, assistant coach Alan Tate will also depart as confirmed by the club.

The Danish outfit has appointed Julius Ohnesorge as their new head of football operations.

Cooper took charge at Brondby in September last year. During his tenure, the team experienced inconsistent form, ultimately finishing fourth in the Superliga standings.

The Welsh tactician’s final fixture ended in a 1-3 defeat to FC Copenhagen after extra time, costing Brondby a spot in next season’s Conference League qualifiers.

Scott McLachlan, vice-chairman of Brondby’s board, stated on the official club site that performance levels led to the decision.

"Bringing Steve on board was a move we trusted would elevate the club to greater heights. While progress has been made off the field, the desired outcomes on the pitch were not achieved. Therefore, we’ve mutually agreed to terminate our collaboration Interpret متحف", McLachlan explained.

Cooper managed Brondby for 28 matches. His coaching background includes stints at Leicester City and Nottingham Forest in England.

Under his leadership, Brondby secured 10 victories, 6 draws, and suffered 12 losses.

He replaces Benjamin Schmedes, who has already left to assume a position as sports director with the German Football League (DFL).
