Brazilian attacker Vinicius has publicly apologised to Real Madrid following his frustrated response to being taken off during their narrow 2-1 victory against rivals Barcelona on Saturday.

Vinicius clashed with manager Xabi Alonso before heading straight to the tunnel after his withdrawal in the 72nd minute for Rodrygo.

The apology from Vinicius made no reference to the Real Madrid manager.

"I wish to say sorry to all Madrid supporters for how I reacted when substituted in the Clasico. As I already expressed personally at training today, I also extend my apologies once more to my fellow players, the club and its president," stated the 25 year old.

"At times my enthusiasm overtakes me because I am so determined to secure victories and support my squad. This drive stems from the deep affection I hold for this club and all that it stands for. I commit to battling relentlessly every moment for Real Madrid, just as I have from the very start," Vinícius remarked.

The forward did make his way back to the sidelines to watch the remainder of the game, and he was among those involved in a confrontation with Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal.

Post match, Alonso indicated that the issue regarding Vinicius outburst would be addressed privately in the locker room.
