Thomas Frank prioritises Tottenham win over Brentford loyalties

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank stated that his drive for a Premier League home victory will take precedence over his fondness for Brentford as he prepares to face his old club on Saturday.

Frank switched clubs within London in June after spending nine years with the Bees, a period during which he steered Brentford into the top flight for the first time in 74 years back in 2021 and then helped cement their status as a solid Premier League outfit.

That said, the Danish coach now faces heightened demands at Tottenham. The team currently occupies 11th place in the standings, mainly due to their poor record on home soil.

Under Frank, Spurs have failed to claim a league win in north London since the season's opening day, managing only two points across their previous six home outings.

"Everyone understands the admiration I hold for Brentford, its supporters, and the whole setup before the match begins, right through to the end," Frank commented during his pre-match media session on Thursday.

"Over those 90 minutes and any extra time, though, it boils down to just one goal, doing all we can to secure the result.

"Naturally, it feels extra significant for me facing Brentford, the place I called home for nine years.

"That amounts to almost a quarter of my life. I cherished every moment of my time there."

Tottenham's struggles at home have carried over from the closing stages of Ange Postecoglou's time in charge last term.

All told, the side has claimed victory in merely three of its last 21 home league fixtures.

"Saturday presents a perfect chance to pick up those three points," Frank remarked when pressed on that run.

"The path to it is clear, put in a solid display, keep honing the elements we work on daily, build from phase two, phase three, sharpen everything up, make it faster.

"Avoid going direct, instead seek more cutting edge when it suits. Bring energy, start strong and fearless, and I am excited for what lies ahead."
