Rosenior Avoids Pressuring Estevao on Quick Return from Brazil

Liam Rosenior has declined to set a specific timeline for Estevaos comeback to play for Chelsea, following the players compassionate trip back to his home country in Brazil.

The young 18 year old forward will sit out Tuesdays League Cup semi final second leg at Arsenal, which represents a setback for the Blues efforts to reverse their 3 2 aggregate disadvantage.

Estevao is facing some challenging personal circumstances, so he has been given leave for family matters, Rosenior explained during Mondays pre match media briefing.

I am not going to add any unnecessary stress to him. Everything must be appropriate for his wellbeing, and he needs to believe he is mentally prepared to contribute effectively on the pitch.

Chelsea mounted an impressive recovery from two goals behind to secure a thrilling 3 2 victory against West Ham last Saturday, sustaining the encouraging momentum in Roseniors tenure.

Since taking over from Enzo Maresca, he has triumphed in six out of seven matches, suffering just one loss to Arsenal in the initial semi final clash three weeks earlier.

To salvage the game versus West Ham, Rosenior relied heavily on his bench players after making several changes to the starting eleven, coming off a taxing 3 2 triumph away at Napoli the previous week.

He emphasised the need to keep rotating the squad, given Chelseas commitments across four different tournaments.

I do not possess a fixed ideal starting lineup, he commented. This has always been the case throughout my time at various clubs.

The intense physical requirements of leagues like the Premier League, Ligue 1, or even the Championship demand a robust squad. It is essential to deploy players strategically to remain competitive throughout the campaign.

I aim to select the optimal opening team, while also assembling a substitute group that can form a strong closing lineup.

Up to now, the players coming off the bench in each fixture have delivered significant contributions. This is not about my coaching tactics, but rather their drive and willingness to step up and support the squad.
