This decision marks a sharp difference from certain host cities planning to hike transport fares during the event.

Officials in New Jersey revealed on Friday that return public transport passes for matches will be priced at $150, marking more than a tenfold jump. Supporters heading to Boston must pay $95 for a round-trip bus service to Gillette Stadium.

Standard rates will continue for trips to fixtures at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field, but SEPTA, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, plans to offer complimentary train journeys home, commencing at half-time and running for two hours after the final whistle.

"My Administration has invested millions of dollars to ensure SEPTA trains remain in good service as we embark on an epic year for sports in Philadelphia," Governor Josh Shapiro stated.

"And I'm glad Airbnb is stepping up to provide free rides for fans so they can get home safely and affordably."

Philadelphia is set to host five group stage matches, kicking off with Ivory Coast versus Ecuador on June 14, in addition to a round of 16 clash.
