Olympique Marseille midfielder Bilal Nadir stable following collapse on pitch
Olympique Marseille midfielder Bilal Nadir is in stable condition and receiving a comprehensive medical examination after collapsing without contact during his teams Ligue 1 match against Angers which ended in a draw the club announced on Thursday.
The 21 year old fell to the ground apparently unassisted with the ball out of play during the 86th minute at Stade Velodrome on Wednesday only 10 minutes after substituting into the game.
Players from both sides gathered around him with concern before he was removed from the field on a stretcher.
Marseille released a statement saying "The player remained conscious throughout the incident".
"Following attention from the clubs medical team and on site emergency responders his vital signs were determined to be normal.
"For safety measures Bilal Nadir was taken to a hospital for complete medical assessments. He is in good health and under continued monitoring."
Olympique Marseille allowed a late levelling goal against Angers missing an opportunity to displace Paris Saint Germain from the top spot in the Ligue 1 standings.
