Newcastle defender Kieran Trippier to leave club at end of season

Kieran Trippier arrived at Newcastle United in January 2022 at a time when the side was languishing in the Premier League drop zone. He proved instrumental in their recovery and rise through the rankings.

This England representative has turned out 157 times for Newcastle contributing to two berths in the Champions League plus their initial home honour in seven decades under his watch.

“The time has come to leave this amazing club after four and a half years. This is where I’ve felt most at home. It’s emotional, and I’m really going to miss it," Trippier said.

“I want to say a massive thank you to the supporters for all the support through the good and the bad times. You’ve always supported me, always stood by me."

The 35 year old has skippered Newcastle on numerous instances and holds the distinction of being the first from the club to lead England since Michael Owen back in 2005.
