Manchester Uniteds Sesko sidelined for several weeks with knee injury

Manager Ruben Amorim announced on Friday that Benjamin Sesko faces a spell on the sidelines lasting several weeks following a knee injury he picked up ahead of the international break.

The forward moved to United from RB Leipzig last August in a deal worth £74 million ($97 million) and got hurt in the 2-2 stalemate away to Tottenham on November 8 where he entered as a second-half replacement but could not see out the game.

This season the 22-year-old has managed only two Premier League strikes and he missed out on action for Slovenia in their World Cup qualifying matches.

"He will remain sidelined for a few weeks though Im unsure of the precise duration yet its nothing too grave" Amorim commented in his press briefing prior to Mondays home clash with Everton.

"We must proceed cautiously with him as he works on his rehabilitation and reports feeling improved already. Therefore I anticipate having Ben (Sesko) available again within a few weeks."

Harry Maguire will also sit out for United at Old Trafford having sustained an issue during that draw with Spurs.

Kobbie Mainoo skipped the journey to London yet may be ready for the encounter against David Moyes outfit while Lisandro Martinez edges nearer to fitness having taken part in Argentinas international duties during the pause.

Sitting seventh in the Premier League table United boast an unbeaten streak across their most recent five fixtures even if the latest pair ended level versus Nottingham Forest and Spurs.
