Frank says Spurs supporting Udogie through 'terrible situation'

Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank stated on Friday that the club is providing full support to Destiny Udogie after a distressing incident where the Italian defender was reportedly threatened with a firearm in north London.

Ahead of the upcoming match against Manchester United on Saturday, Frank mentioned that the entire team has united to back the 22 year old player.

"It was a dreadful ordeal, and I cannot discuss details further since it involves a legal matter, but we at the club have offered all possible assistance," Frank commented.

"We will continue to do so, and it is positive to see him performing strongly on the field."

Authorities have initiated an inquiry following the event with the Tottenham left back on September 6. A 31 year old individual was detained and released on bail as the investigation proceeds.

Udogie might feature in the game versus United, and if selected to start, he could be tasked with handling the impressive Bryan Mbeumo, who joined Old Trafford during the summer transfer window after excelling under Frank at Brentford.

His former manager expressed no astonishment at Mbeumo's adaptation to United.

"No, it does not surprise me," Frank remarked. "Having coached a player over six years builds a strong bond.

"Observing his growth from a 19 year old arriving in London with Brentford to departing for one of the worlds leading clubs, managing the attention and rising to the challenge."

The Danish coach continued: "From my perspective, perhaps slightly partial, I believe he has been Uniteds most effective attacking contributor.

"He is an exceptional talent. I am confident he will thrive there. I wish him success overall, not just for tomorrows game, but in his career."

Spurs, positioned sixth in the league, and United, in eighth place, both hold 17 points after their first 10 fixtures.
