Controversial West Ham vice-chair Karren Brady steps down after 16 years at club

Karren Brady became part of West Hams board in 2010, right after co chairmen David Sullivan and David Gold finalised their acquisition of the Premier League team.

She contributed significantly to the clubs relocation from Upton Park, its longstanding home for over a century, to the London Stadium in 2016, an agreement that boosted matchday seating to about 60000 for West Ham.

"It has been a privilege to work alongside the Board, management, players, staff and supporters at West Ham United," Brady remarked in her announcement.

"Together we have achieved remarkable milestones, but the highlight for me will always be lifting the UEFA Europa Conference League trophy, a moment that will stay with me forever," she continued, reflecting on the 2023 success.

Even with notable commercial advancements, Brady turned into a contentious presence for West Ham fans, drawing flak for the switch from Upton Park to the London Stadium, hikes in ticket fees, and missing chances to leverage the Conference League win.

West Ham are now battling relegation in the Premier League, holding a slim two point margin over the drop zone.
