Bellingham calls for fans to show love to Vinicius and Real Madrid rather than boos

Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham urged supporters to offer "love" to Vinicius Junior and the squad to help them excel, following the team's emphatic 6-1 victory over Monaco in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Vinicius netted a goal and contributed to three others in what was one of his standout displays this season, just days after receiving whistles and jeers from Madrid fans during a La Liga clash with Levante.

The crowd voiced their discontent towards Vinicius and Bellingham specifically, along with the entire team, amid a string of underwhelming results that resulted in manager Xabi Alonso's dismissal and an early exit from the Copa del Rey.

"(Vinicius) appeared razor sharp, posed a threat whenever he touched the ball, and generated plenty of chances," Bellingham shared with TNT Sports.

"He's the sort of player who flourishes with affection from the stands. You could notice how the vibe shifted in his favour today.

"His performance elevates dramatically, making him far more enjoyable to observe and team up with...

"That's the burden those boos place on a player. Yet it looks like he's shaken off that weight somewhat, and I hope he keeps it up."

Bellingham mentioned that featuring in the 2-0 triumph against Levante on Saturday, with the Bernabeu crowd turning against Alvaro Arbeloa's side, proved challenging for him.

"I've maintained that fans invest their hard earned cash, labour through the week, and budget to attend Real Madrid matches in support of us," the England star clarified.

"They have every right to voice their views. (That said) I don't believe it's invariably beneficial for the group or for players on a personal level.

"Drawing from my own encounters, I can confirm it's far from pleasant, though naturally they hold the freedom to express their thoughts."

Bellingham scored towards the end of the Monaco thrashing and marked it by pretending to sip drinks, seemingly countering rumours about his involvement in Madrid's night scene.

"People throw around all sorts of claims, and it seems like anyone can face a lens to spout nonsense, with the globe accepting it sans proof," Bellingham continued.

"It was just a light hearted nod to the supporters and those spreading idle talk. Personally, I grasp the reality. I understand what truly happens in my private affairs."
