Barca deputy coach expects backlash to inspire Yamal for El Clasico clash

Barcelona's promising youngster Lamine Yamal should draw inspiration from recent backlash as he prepares for the upcoming El Clasico, according to the team's assistant manager during a Saturday briefing.

The young forward has faced scrutiny in Madrid following his light-hearted comments on a social media broadcast, where he quipped that Real Madrid tend to pilfer and grumble.

La Liga leaders Barcelona take on Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu this Sunday, aiming to extend their run of four straight triumphs against their arch-rivals.

"Lamine stands out as an exceptional talent, and I believe this kind of feedback will fire him up," remarked Marcus Sorg, aide to head coach Hansi Flick, at the media gathering.

"I am eager for everyone to witness his peak form in the match tomorrow."

The 18 year old Spanish international is set to line up against Real Madrid's left sided defender Alvaro Carreras, who posed challenges for him in previous encounters last term when Barcelona met Benfica thrice in the Champions League.

"Lamine stays driven no matter what, and as I recall, we came out on top in all those Benfica fixtures," Sorg pointed out.

Head coach Flick sits out the fixture due to a suspension from a sending off in last week's victory over Girona, leaving Sorg to handle the sidelines.

"Truth be told, we feel the absence of Hansi whenever he cannot be present, as he forms the core of our squad," Sorg admitted.

"Naturally, it puts us at a disadvantage, much like losing key players, yet we must adapt accordingly. The whole group understands his vision, and I am confident we will deliver."

Barcelona must make do without winger Raphinha, who has encountered a hiccup in his recovery from a hamstring problem.

"Any side would lament Raphinha's unavailability, but that is the situation, we possess sufficient depth in the roster and need to cope," Sorg added.

The deputy manager noted that Jules Kounde participated in training on Saturday despite a recent bump, and could be available for the Madrid showdown, as might Ferran Torres.

Barcelona also sit out several other squad members due to injuries, such as Robert Lewandowski, Dani Olmo, and Gavi.
