Arne Slot at Liverpool eyes momentum from Fulham victory before facing PSG

Rio Ngumoha, aged seventeen, netted a stunning opener, soon followed by Mohamed Salah's strike, securing Liverpool's fifth position in the league, with Slot aiming to carry this form into Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final second leg against Paris Saint-Germain at home.

Liverpool under Slot had gone without a league triumph since late February, reeling from heavy losses such as a 4-0 thrashing by Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals and a 2-0 defeat away to PSG.

Slot recognised the lifted spirits in the team yet urged restraint.

"The atmosphere is brighter now compared to two or three days back, or even a week ago, but a single victory does not fix all issues," he remarked.

The manager commended the fans for their electric support during Saturday's match and seeks similar backing when PSG visits Anfield next week.

"This result is huge, not just for the league standings but also building towards Tuesday, benefiting players and supporters alike. Following those 4-0 and 2-0 setbacks, everyone needed this boost," Slot shared with the BBC.

"It's evident we require our fans' full energy on Tuesday. We faced tough conditions in Paris despite their presence there.

"Anfield repeatedly demonstrates its power to elevate the squad, and we must harness that once more. Players crave that encouragement thirty minutes prior to kick-off, sensing another unforgettable night ahead."

Ngumoha, at seventeen, etched his name in history as Liverpool's youngest scorer in a Premier League game at Anfield, sparking online speculation about a potential start versus PSG.

Slot lauded the young talent's landmark goal, noting his increasing impact.

"Winning individual battles is one of his key assets," Slot explained. "Throughout this season, with more minutes on the pitch, he has earned every opportunity.

"Whenever he features, he performs exceptionally, and scoring today underscores his importance. In this sport, goals are everything."

Salah's goal marked his first at Anfield since revealing his departure from the club at the season's close after nine successful years, resonating deeply with the crowd who serenaded him.

"Mo's goal means a lot to him personally, yet the victory holds greater significance for the team and Liverpool as a whole," Slot commented.

"Seeing him deliver that signature finish, inside of the foot into the far corner, a move he has mastered repeatedly, brings joy. It's a crucial contribution for both him and the squad."
