2026 World Cup Champions to Receive $50 Million Prize Fund
FIFA, the global governing body for football, announced on Wednesday that the 2026 World Cup victors will be awarded $50 million in prize money, forming part of an unprecedented financial package for the competition.
The entire prize pot for the World Cup amounts to $655 million (558.5 million euros), marking almost a 50 percent uplift from the $440 million shared among teams in the 2022 event held in Qatar.
Nevertheless, the 2026 tournament, hosted in the United States, Mexico, and Canada from June 11 to July 19, marks the debut with 48 teams, a 50 percent growth from the 32 teams of the previous edition.
The Argentine Football Association earned $42 million in prizes after Lionel Messi led them to success three years prior, clinching the title via penalties in the final versus France.
France collected $30 million for their journey to the final that year. For the upcoming event, runners up will gain $33 million, third placed teams $29 million, and the remaining semi final losers $27 million.
Outfits exiting in the group stage will each secure $9 million, plus all 48 involved countries will obtain an extra $1.5 million for preparation expenses.
