Over Iraqi Premier League

De Iraq Stars League is het hoogste niveau van het Iraakse voetbalsysteem. De competitie, die bestaat uit 20 clubs, werkt met een systeem van promotie en degradatie met de Iraakse Eerste Divisie. De league wordt beheerd door de Iraqi Pro League Association.
De competitie werd in 1974 opgericht door de Iraq Football Association als de Iraqi National Clubs League, de eerste nationale clubscompetitie in Irak, en werd later bekend als de Iraakse Premier League. In 2023 werd de competitie getransformeerd tot een professionele league onder de naam Iraq Stars League. Het huidige format bestaat uit 20 teams die elk 38 wedstrijden spelen (iedere club in de competitie twee keer, thuis en uit), wat resulteert in een totaal van 380 wedstrijden per seizoen.
