Slavia shuts down full stand and boots two players from squad following Prague derby mayhem

Besides the ongoing shutdown of the North Stand, the team has implemented a severe measure internally, removing Tomas Chory and David Doudera from the primary squad due to misconduct.

The top league encounter ended prematurely in added time with a 3-2 lead for the hosts, as numerous fans invaded the field. Several invaded the pitch and clashed with Sparta athletes, while hurling flares towards the visiting supporters area. In an extended post on social platform X, Tvrdík vehemently criticised the spectators conduct.

"A bunch of individuals, whom I hesitate to label as supporters, invaded the field, assaulted AC Sparta Praha athletes, and lobbed fireworks into the section for away fans. This has no place in football. This does not represent Slavia. It brings shame to us all," stated the club president.

He extended a personal apology to the targeted Sparta players Jakub Surovcik, Jakub Martinec, and Matyas Vojta, along with the broader football world. "However, apologies alone fall short. Therefore, I am revealing these actions today. The North Stand is sealed off from spectators right away," Tvrdik revealed regarding this significant decision. The primary fan zone at the stadium stays shut until every attacker is pinpointed and disciplined.

As per his words, the leadership is ready to leave the stand vacant throughout the upcoming campaign if required.

"And we will ensure no repeat of such incidents occurs. We refuse to compromise on athlete protection or courtesy towards rivals," the president stressed, noting that the club has supplied all surveillance videos and ticket holder details to law enforcement and officials. Any pinpointed disruptors will receive a permanent exclusion from Fortuna Arena plus demands for compensation.

The fallout from the disorder has spilled over into the athletic realm. Tvrdik verified that Chory and Doudera have been swiftly excluded from the main team for behavioural issues.

The Vrsovice outfit now anticipates the ruling from the League Football Associations disciplinary panel, which convened an urgent session on Sunday morning. It seems highly probable the fixture will be ruled a 3-0 victory for Sparta, narrowling their gap to frontrunners Slavia to five points with three fixtures remaining in the title race.

"I regret this deeply, it marks the gravest embarrassment I have seen at the club. There are valid reasons for forfeiting the game," Tvrdik conceded during the aftermatch media briefing.

Beyond athletic setbacks, the current title holders could encounter a penalty as high as 10 million crowns and a total stadium lockdown for multiple home fixtures. The incident has also tarnished the clubs image considerably.

"This day signifies defeat. Yet it is also an occasion to rebuild trust via deeds, rather than mere statements," Tvrdik wrapped up, mentioning that a neutral review of the security operations is currently in progress at Eden.
