Coventry City owner remains unconcerned over speculation tying Frank Lampard to Chelsea job
Frank Lampard enjoyed a 13-year spell at Chelsea as a player, and served as the teams manager on two occasions, including a brief role as interim boss in 2023.
The ex-England midfielder, who claimed three Premier League crowns, four FA Cups, and a Champions League trophy with Chelsea in his playing days, guided the side to the FA Cup final during his tenure as head coach in 2020.
King noted that Lampard appears content following his initial managerial silverware, as Coventry clinched the Championship crown this week.
"It is clear how deeply attached Lampard feels to the city, and how much the promotion followed by the title signified to him, and I believe he has discovered a contented position right now," King shared with the BBC during an interview released on Thursday.
"That does not rule out the possibility of an astonishing offer coming his way over the summer, at which point he would need to weigh his options, given that he has proven himself as an elite head coach, though I will refrain from discussing that further, as it is beyond my influence.
"For now, he seems pleased, I am pleased, everyone is pleased, we are all wearing smiles, and we are not fretting over potential future developments regarding the manager."
Lampards deal with Coventry extends to June 2027.
Chelsea dismissed manager Liam Rosenior on Wednesday, during a run of five straight Premier League defeats where the team in eighth position netted zero goals.
Bournemouths outgoing manager Andoni Iraola has likewise been mentioned in connection with the Chelsea vacancy according to UK press coverage.
The capital club faces Leeds United at Wembley on Sunday in the FA Cup semi-final clash.
