Thomas Frank at a loss over Tottenham's dismal home form

Thomas Frank confessed he lacked a quick remedy for Tottenham's woeful home performances following their 2-1 loss to Aston Villa on Sunday.

Tottenham opened the scoring via Rodrigo Bentancur just five minutes into the match in north London.

However they once more squandered their early advantage when Morgan Rogers netted a stunning effort his first in 20 appearances to draw Villa level before the break.

Aston Villa's replacement Emiliano Buendia bent the ball into the far corner during the 77th minute sealing Tottenham's fate with now 11 losses and just three victories in their past 18 Premier League outings at home.

Hired from Brentford over the summer Frank has witnessed two setbacks in his initial four league matches at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium contributing further to the venues troubled history under previous manager Ange Postecoglou last season.

When questioned on the reasons behind this slump Frank replied: "I hope I can figure it out! Perhaps it is not so straightforward.

"This match felt like a stalemate. We could have claimed the points rather than Villa and the story would differ.

"I focus on the on-field display which was solid and identify areas for enhancement."

Frank was without skipper Cristian Romero who picked up an adductor problem in the warm-up while Mathys Tel ended the game with his knee heavily strapped joining Tottenham's extensive injury roster.

Aston Villa's fifth straight triumph halted Tottenham's seven-game unbeaten streak across all tournaments.

Yet Frank declined to criticise his squad after their most recent disappointment before home supporters.

"I believe we played solidly. Not exceptionally so" the Dane remarked.

"We conceded around eight attempts? Hardly any crosses. Extremely low expected goals and Guglielmo Vicario faced no real saves.

"If pre-match you told me Rogers and Buendia would score from those positions I would think nothing of it as no threat but Rogers delivered a brilliant finish.

"In those rare instances they showed superior finishing touch."
