Swedish Arsenal forward files for trademark on famous goal mask ritual

Swedish forward for Arsenal Viktor Gyokeres has successfully trademarked his goal celebration. He joins a list of other prominent football players who have done the same.

The Swedish newspaper Expressen has reviewed documents from the EU Intellectual Property Office confirming this development.

Records show that the application received approval back in September. It features an image of Gyokeres executing his signature move, where he crosses his hands over his face to mimic a mask.

Players like Kylian Mbappe and Cole Palmer have earlier protected their own celebrations through trademarks. Palmer pursued this to manage the commercial use of his brand more effectively.

"The goal was not to stop fellow athletes or kids playing on pitches from copying the celebration or something close to it," Palmers legal representatives clarified regarding the trademark, as noted by Expressen.
