Spurs looking into Bissouma conduct after 'laughing gas' report

Thomas Frank indicated that Tottenham is addressing Yves Bissouma's actions following claims that the midfielder from Mali inhaled nitrous oxide once more, marking the second occurrence in consecutive seasons.

Bissouma has not played under Tottenham's manager Frank yet, having been excluded prior to the UEFA Super Cup match against Paris Saint-Germain in August due to ongoing punctuality issues.

The 29-year-old had ankle surgery in October, yet his prospects of selection by Frank were undermined by a report in The Sun newspaper last weekend, which included video evidence of Bissouma supposedly using nitrous oxide, commonly referred to as laughing gas.

Should this be verified, it would represent the second such incident for Bissouma, who received a one-match suspension at the beginning of the 2024/25 season for poor decision-making after being caught inhaling nitrous oxide on camera.

According to English legislation, nitrous oxide became a Class C substance in 2023, and possessing laughing gas for leisure purposes constitutes a criminal violation.

Ahead of Tuesdays Champions League encounter with Slavia Prague at home, Frank remarked: Its an internal issue we are managing right now, and once resolved, I will provide further details.

Bissouma was already unavailable for the Slavia match, and Frank noted that Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie will remain absent until the new year.

Destiny sustained a hamstring problem at the conclusion of the Newcastle fixture, which ended 2-2 on December 2, meaning he will be sidelined until January, Frank explained.

However, the French striker Randal Kolo Muani, currently on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, participated in training on Monday after appearing to injure himself in the 2-0 victory over Brentford on Saturday.

The win against Brentford halted Tottenhams four-month drought for a home Premier League success and slightly reduced the scrutiny on Frank following a series of underwhelming results.

Its beneficial to establish momentum for more steady and strong showings, Frank commented. We are focused on capitalising on this progress.

Frank avoided discussing Tottenhams prospects in 16th position for securing a top-eight finish in the Champions League, which guarantees progression to the knockout stages.

My focus is on the upcoming fixture, he stated.
