Popovic adds two uncapped players to World Cup training squad
Bennie, a 20-year-old born in Hong Kong, features for Queens Park Rangers in the Championship, Englands second division, whereas his counterpart Borges Rodrigues, aged 22 and also a winger, features for Wigan Athletic while loaned out from Coventry City.
The two will compete for positions in Popovics World Cup team against seasoned wingers including Martin Boyle and Awer Mabil.
These players form part of seven individuals based in Britain selected for the Sarasota training session, during which Popovic alongside his coaching team will evaluate a broader roster prior to announcing the definitive 26-player lineup by June 1.
Popovic further incorporated Melbourne Citys wingback Aziz Behich, goalkeeper Patrick Beach, and the Netherlands-resident midfielder Ajdin Hrustic.
Beach anticipates a contest with Joe Gauci for the reserve goalkeeper role, as longstanding captain Mat Ryan remains the probable number one, with Paul Izzo poised as his immediate deputy.
The Socceroos revealed the initial eight squad members for the Sarasota camp last week, and additional players will join once domestic leagues conclude.
Australia will encounter Turkey, the United States, and Paraguay during the World Cup group phase, scheduled from June 11 to July 19.
