Poland's strong playoff history carries little significance for coach Urban

Poland secured their spot at the previous World Cup via the playoffs, and they also earned qualification for Euro 2024 through that path, with numerous players from the present team having navigated those intense encounters.

"Indeed, they possess that experience, naturally," Urban remarked to journalists prior to Thursdays fixture in Warsaw.

"Should they choose to rely on it, I believe once they step onto the field, that background will be inherent.

"However, they will not dwell on prior similar matches; instead, they will focus on our strategy and how we intend to approach this opponent.

"During the game, you assess the unfolding action on the field. There is pressure, tension, exhaustion, and no opportunity for reminiscing. Such thoughts simply do not arise."

Poland holds a favourable record against Albania, triumphing in 10 fixtures while suffering defeat in just two. Yet, their latest clash in 2023 saw Poland lose, as Albania claimed the top position in the Euro qualification section.

Urban assumed the role last July, succeeding Michal Probierz who stepped down amid controversy over removing Polands all time leading goalscorer Robert Lewandowski from the captains position.

Albania has been under Sylvinhos guidance since 2023, and his debut match resulted in a 1-0 defeat to Poland in Warsaw.

"In our most recent encounters with them, they have posed greater challenges," Urban noted.

"This stems partly from their consistent lineup and the fact they have collaborated with the same manager for three years.

"I anticipate an engaging and fluid match. Although Albania prioritises defence, they recognise the need for a positive outcome here. They are capable of upsets, and I sincerely hope that does not occur tomorrow."
