Luca Zidane Expresses Pride in Representing Algeria Ahead of World Cup Qualifier

The son of French football icon Zinedine Zidane, Luca, expressed his pride on Wednesday at the prospect of representing Algeria during the nation's upcoming World Cup qualifier against Somalia.

At 27 years old, Luca Zidane previously featured for France's youth squad but has now opted to compete for Algeria, the homeland of his grandparents.

I'm delighted to be here. This opportunity fills me with pride, and I am committed to giving my absolute best to ensure the Algerian people feel proud, the goalkeeper stated during a press briefing in Oran.

Currently playing for Granada in Spain's second division, the younger Zidane switched his sporting allegiance last month after not having appeared for France's senior team.

He was recently included for the first time in Algeria's 26 player squad for the upcoming World Cup qualification matches.

My entire family supports my decision and shares my pride. My grandfather is particularly pleased with my choice to represent Algeria, he continued.

Regarding his father, the 1998 World Cup champion for France, Luca remarked, He has his own path and career. Similarly, I am forging my own journey and legacy.

By defeating Somalia, Algeria has the chance to become the fourth African nation to secure a spot in next year's World Cup. Luca emphasized, Our immediate goal is tomorrow's match against Somalia. A victory will ensure our qualification for the World Cup.
