Liverpool Boss Slot Avoids More Salah Comments Following Narrow Victory Over Inter

Arne Slot praised the players he selected for the trip to Italy after securing a 1-0 victory in the Champions League against Inter Milan on Tuesday, choosing not to add to the ongoing dispute with key player Mohamed Salah.

Prior to the game, attention had centred on Salah's outspoken remarks against Slot, with the manager confessing on Monday that he was uncertain if the forward had featured in his final match for Liverpool, having opted to exclude him from the squad for the Milan trip.

Salah created significant tension at the club by claiming he felt undermined by the team and that his bond with Slot had ended, following his omission from the starting lineup in Saturday's 3-3 result against Leeds.

"Liverpool's storied past includes plenty of nights like this," Slot explained to the media.

"Yet in our current campaign, following an away triumph in this venue against a formidable opponent, the focus ought to be on those present; they merit the recognition."

The team now sits in the Champions League's top eight, thanks to Dominik Szoboszlai's decisive late spot-kick that clinched the points at the San Siro.

Slot conceded that the penalty decision favoured Liverpool, while referencing the earlier disallowance of Ibrahima Konate's strike due to handball, which he viewed as an incorrect call.

"Should that count as a penalty, we might have seen about ten awarded to us this term," Slot acknowledged.

"It is not the sort of penalty typically given in the Premier League.

"Still, the initial goal seemed more evident than the error in granting that penalty."

Liverpool's upcoming Champions League outings include a journey to Marseille, followed by a home match against Qarabag in their last league phase encounter.
