Hojlund's Goal Secures Napoli's Victory Over Genoa and Serie A Leadership

Rasmus Hojlund scored the crucial goal for Napoli in their 2-1 victory against Genoa on Sunday, propelling the Serie A champions to the league summit.

Following his two goals in the midweek match against Sporting Lisbon, Hojlund capitalised on a rebound in the 75th minute to secure the win for Napoli after they had trailed.

The 22-year-old forward reacted swiftly when Andre-Frank Anguissa's strong shot was parried by Genoa's goalkeeper Nicola Leali, bringing his total goals across all competitions to four since joining Napoli from Manchester United.

However, Antonio Conte's side faced a challenging match as Anguissa equalised in the 57th minute following a goal from young player Jeff Ekhator, who scored his second Serie A goal to give Genoa the lead at half-time.

Napoli now hold 15 points from six league games and top the table ahead of Roma, who won 2-1 against Fiorentina, based on goal difference.

Their position remains secure until the outcome of AC Milan's fixture against Juventus in Turin later today, which presents another critical challenge for Massimiliano Allegri's team, who had been leading the table after their exciting encounter with Napoli the previous weekend.

Matias Soule and Bryan Cristante netted first-half goals for Roma in Florence, securing their third consecutive victory in Serie A, despite initially falling behind to a powerful strike from Moise Kean in the 14th minute.

Kean nearly doubled his season's tally with another strong shot that hit the post in the 38th minute, shortly after Cristante's header had put Roma ahead.

Roberto Piccoli came close to equalising with a volley that struck the crossbar in the 74th minute, yet Fiorentina are still without a win, sitting on three points and just above the relegation zone.
