Arsenals Danish Midfielder Concludes International Tenure After World Cup Setback

The Arsenal midfielder has stated his unavailability to Denmark head coach Brian Riemer.

"It has been tough in one way, as nothing brings me greater joy than joining the team and staff at Marienlyst, the Danish training base. Nothing excites me more than taking the field in red and white at a packed, electric Parken stadium."

"Yet in another sense, the choice was straightforward, since I seek additional family time, and with the failed World Cup qualification, it seems right to step aside for the skilled and driven young players that Denmark continues to produce in abundance", Christian Norgaard explains.

This 32 year old midfielder first appeared for the national side under Kasper Hjulmand in 2020, accumulating 41 caps in the colours of Denmark.

During his time, he featured in three major tournaments, including two Euros and a World Cup. He particularly cherishes the 2021 European Championship as the highlight of his playing days.

His final outing for Denmark occurred on 31 March, when hopes for the World Cup ended in Prague via a penalty shootout defeat.

Post match, he shared with media at the Czech venue that he needed to reflect on his future involvement. "I am unsure", he noted.

He subsequently consulted with coach Brian Riemer and his loved ones, leading to this outcome.

"That chapter closes now. I will cheer from the stands as a supporter, not as a team member. My thanks to the teammates, coaching staff, and supporters for turning a childhood aspiration into reality", Christian Norgaard shares.

Ahead lie thrilling times for the midfielder. At Arsenal, a Premier League title is within reach, alongside a Champions League triumph, with the club advancing to the final versus PSG.
