Wolves name Cesar Peixoto as new head coach with two-year contract

After signing his contract alongside Wolverhampton's director of football operations and administration, Matt Wild, and chief executive, Nathan Shi, Cesar Peixoto toured the facilities, including the first team dressing room and what is now his office, before holding up the club's commemorative shirt for its 150th anniversary.

Shi said: “We are delighted to welcome Cesar to Wolves. During our discussions with him, it quickly became apparent that he has many of the attributes we value for the future of this club.

“We were looking for a clear identity, strong leadership qualities and a genuine will to win. Cesar demonstrated all of these traits, but what struck me most was his mindset, his dedication and his readiness to take on the challenge ahead.

“He is young, full of energy and ambition, but also thoughtful, responsible and eager to push himself and those around him in the quest for improvement. We believe he will fit seamlessly into the culture and vision we are building at Wolves.”

“I am proud to be here at this great and historic club in England. It is a massive opportunity for me, and I am prepared to do everything to take Wolves back to where they belong in the Premier League,” Peixoto said.

“We have excellent players, but I believe the team can improve significantly with me, and I can also develop as a head coach. I want to impose my identity on the team, create a strong identity at the club and also help the team progress, showing my identity and my style of play,” he added.

“This is an incredible club, and it matters to me that Wolves play in a way that mirrors the fans. It is a hardworking city, full of energy and passion, and I want them to see a team that plays attacking football, with good organisation and that plays for the supporters.

“I want the fans to be proud of our players, proud of the way we play and the way we fight match after match to win, and to achieve the main goal, which is to bring Wolves back to the Premier League.”
