Darwin Nunez reportedly set for sensational Liverpool return after Al Hilal exit

The Reds have been offered the chance to bring back the Uruguay international for free this summer after he mutually agreed to terminate his contract with Al Hilal at the end of the season.

Nunez joined Al Hilal in a £46m deal last summer but after he was removed from Al Hilal’s league squad following the signing of French marksman Karim Benzema in February, it looked like his move was over before it really began.

Now, as the chaotic striker seeks a new club, journalist Martin Charquero has suggested a deal is in place as he reported that Nunez is ready to return to Merseyside, as translated from Spanish.

“ATTENTION. Darwin Nunez returns to Liverpool. The confirmation will not be given in these days since the player asked to be focused with the Uruguayan National Team.”

Former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp signed the promising Uruguayan for a reported fee of £64m, potentially rising to £84m, from Portuguese giants Benfica.

Four years on, the Reds now have the chance to snap him up for free as he prepares to turn 27 on the 24th June. Nunez in his prime would be hard to pass up, and many fans have already taken to social media, pleading with the club to bring the much loved Uruguayan striker back to the fold.

During his previous spell in England, he scored 25 goals and provided 16 assists in the Premier League but was widely known for his inconsistencies in front of goal which led to his departure.
