Who wears 10 and who is number 1? South Africa announce their shirt numbers for the World Cup
Skipper Ronwen Williams will wear the number 1 jersey, while Teboho Mokoena retains his customary number 4 and Lyle Foster holds on to number 9. Themba Zwane also keeps his number 11.
Only shirt numbers 1 through 26 are permitted for use at the World Cup and, as is common practice in leagues and competitions globally these days, cannot be altered after the tournament begins.
If a replacement is needed, he will inherit the number of the player he is replacing.
Only the Mamelodi Sundowns trio of Khulumani Ndamane (3), Mokoena (4) and Aubrey Modiba (6) will sport their 'fortunate' shirt numbers from their club sides, together with Thabang Matuludi of Polokwane City (2), Evidence Makgopa of Orlando Pirates (17) and Burnley's Foster (9).
These are the Bafana Bafana shirt numbers for this month's competition, where South Africa face Mexico in the opening match on June 11, followed by clashes with the Czech Republic (June 18) and South Korea (June 24) in their remaining Group A fixtures.
