UEFA Set to Discipline Chelseas Pedro Neto After Incident with Ball Boy

Chelseas Pedro Neto faces potential sanctions from UEFA following an incident where he shoved a ball boy during a 5-2 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. European footballs governing authority revealed on Thursday that it has launched disciplinary measures.

A UEFA statement indicated, Disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against Pedro Neto due to unsporting conduct.

UEFA disciplinary panel will decide on this matter shortly.

The event occurred when Neto accidentally knocked down the ball boy while hurrying to retrieve the ball towards the end of Wednesdays first leg in the last 16 stage, as Chelsea were down 4-2.

This sparked a heated confrontation among players from both sides, after which Neto expressed regret and offered his shirt to the young boy.

Neto explained to TNT Sports, We were behind and caught up in the games intensity, so I rushed for the ball and lightly pushed him.

I am not that type of player. It happened in the moments heat, and I wish to say sorry. I handed over my shirt. I truly regret it and must apologise to him.

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior commented, Should anything improper have occurred from our team, I offer the clubs apologies.

This season, Neto has netted 10 goals across 42 appearances in various competitions for Chelsea, and he risks a ban for the upcoming second leg on Tuesday.
