Thousands of Aston Villa fans fill streets to celebrate Europa League victory

Supporters clad in the club's distinctive claret and blue hues brandished flags and ignited flares as they thronged the avenues of Birmingham to witness their idols showcase the trophy.

The crowd erupted in cheers and songs as the players, adorned with medals, journeyed on an open-top bus from the stadium to Centenary Square in the heart of the city, where around 23,000 enthusiasts had assembled.

"I am absolutely elated, this means everything," shared one fan with the BBC, while another proclaimed Wednesday's triumph as "the pinnacle of my existence".

Unai Emery's squad concluded their silverware famine with a commanding 3-0 triumph over Freiburg in Istanbul, courtesy of strikes from Youri Tielemans, Emiliano Buendia, and Morgan Rogers.

This victory marked Villa's first major honour since the 1996 League Cup and their most significant European accolade in over four decades.

"You have endured countless hardships and letdowns, but this remarkable team has delivered immense joy in recent years," declared skipper John McGinn, addressing the faithful through a microphone.

Emery devoted the trophy to the club's loyal supporters.

"Our passion mirrors yours, and yours reflects ours. United we stand – onwards Villa," announced the Spanish tactician.
