Swedish FC Copenhagen talent quotes Bible after missing out on World Cup squad
Following the announcement of the team roster, Bardghji shared this statement on social media.
"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me," posted Roony Bardghji on Instagram, accompanied by an emoji indicating upwards.
This line comes from the Bible.
When Graham Potter revealed his selections for the World Cup, the Swedish head coach outlined his thought process:
"These have been extremely difficult choices to finalise. Selecting players for the World Cup is a responsibility I did not take for granted. As an individual and a parent, I understand the hardship of excluding talents", remarked the ex-Chelsea manager, adding:
"My choices stem from several factors. I do not possess every solution. Perspectives can vary on any matter."
Potter highlighted rivalry as a key element.
"From a rivalry standpoint, certain players are currently in better positions. Additionally, we are limited to 26 squad members for the journey, considering how to handle interactions during travel, behaviours, and diverse backgrounds regarding maturity and expertise. I hold great affection for both of them (Roony Bardghji and Hugo Larsson, both omitted). They possess promising futures. I might err, yet I must decide."
The Swedish squad assembles on 27 May. During the group phase, they will compete against Tunisia, the Netherlands, and Japan.
